Solborgir

Eykt is working on the development of a new construction project in Hveragerði, about 40 km from the capital, which has been named "Sólborgir".

Sólborgir will be situated on 77 hectares of land north of Suðurlandsvegur and east of the Varmá river. This settlement will be unique in many ways, and will, among other things, be characterised by more scenery and vistas than are generally found in resorts in the south of Iceland. A difference in elevation within the resort will be substantial, ranging from just over 20 metres above sea level at Suðurlandsvegur up to about 70–80 metres in the topmost part of the resort.

Sólborgir will be a residential area with about 900 apartments in a mixed configuration, of which about a half will be detached housing (villas, townhouses and duplexes). In the central area will be located an primary school, kindergarten and a sports centre, as well as a trade and service centre.

At the outskirt of the resort, along Suðurlandsvegur, there will be building-lots for commercial structures intended for activities that will benefit from the proximity of the highway. Furthermore, these roadside houses shall generally benefit the acoustical environment in the outlying settlement.
